Hello VIVA friends,

Today our post is a little bittersweet. Our good friend Carlinha is leaving us to go live with her brother in the northern part of Brazil. She served this community so well and poured so much love into our students' lives. In Portuguese we use the word SAUDADES to describe a vague and constant desire for something that does not and probably cannot exist. Something in the past that makes us feel  both happy and sad - happy because of the good memories but sad because those memories don't exist now. This is how we feel about Carlinha leaving. We're gonna miss her very much!  But we wish her a great beginning as she start a new journey.

We threw a party to celebrate her last night and we were able to give her some gifts and hugs. She left our town this morning to a new start.

Also, last night we started our English class. This is one of our students' favorite classes because all of them want to learn English so badly. Another good news is that all of our courses offered this month are full. We celebrate this success and thank all of you who have supported VIVA in so many ways!
